Our Mission and Vision
The Tampa Bay Beekeepers Association (TBBA) a 501C3 not for profit association, exists to promote responsible beekeeping.
We are for Bee Enthusiasts, WannaBees, NewBees, Hobbyists, Sideliners and Commercial Beekeepers. One of our aims is to encourage new people into this fascinating craft and to assist you by: Providing contact with experienced beekeepers who can help you get started, hands on experience opportunities in the association’s apiary, Educating the public about the benefits of the Honey Bee, Running introductory courses, Supporting and opportunities to mentor/help you through your first year(s), Advising on the purchase of equipment, Providing a local association as a focal point for members.
In short, we are a club FOR and BY enthusiastic beekeepers.
Join Tampa Bay Beekeepers Association Monthly Meetings
Our regular bee meetings will be on the Second Thursday of every month at the Hillsborough County Extension Office: 5339 County Rd 579, Seffner, FL, 33584 The meeting starts at 7 PM followed at 7:30 by introduction, prayer, pledge, and a potluck dinner/mingling. Our special speaker(s) around 8:00 PM. and we close off the night with a business meeting and raffle.
Apiary Beeyard
Hands On Experience
Most Saturday’s, following our meetings, we meet at a bee yard with the associations hives.
Most of the time we gather at 9:00/9:30 a.m. and go into the bee yard then join us for lunch paid for by the association. You will learn how to enter the hives, what is happening in the colonies, and depending on the season, the different maintenance and procedures we do to keep the colonies healthy, make increases and harvest honey.
Because of weather and status of the bees. The actual LOCATION of the bees and TIME will be ANNOUNCED at the meeting.
YOU MUST sign a waiver, wear long pants, long sleeves and closed toe shoes. This is a family-friendly event and kids (6 and older) are welcome, it is not a pet friendly environment. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

2ND Thursday each month
We meet on the 2nd Thursday of the month. Currently we meet at the UF IFAS Extension Office Conference Room 5339 County Rd 579, Seffner, FL 33584
Most of the time, we have the NewBee class at 7 p.m. followed by Introduction, Prayer and Pledge followed by the Potluck and Mingling at 7:30 p.m., our main speaker starts at 8p.m. followed by our business meeting and finishing with a raffle.
Monthly Field/Apiary Workdays
Most Saturdays after the meetings
Our Apiary field days are on most Saturday’s following our meeting, the location, day, and time can change due to weather or situations. It is announced at the meetings. We often meet at 9:30 a.m. have an hands-on experience with our bees and have a lunch paid for by the association.

Beekeeper NewBee Classes
Monthly Newbee Classes at the meetings
Experienced beekeepers will share their knowledge with NewBees to guide them through the process of starting beekeeping. This is also a great time to ask questions!

Celebrate Events like the World Bee Day
May 20
World Bee Day is celebrated on May 20. On this day Anton Janša, the pioneer of beekeeping, was baptized in 1734. The purpose of the international day is to acknowledge the role of bees and other pollinators for the ecosystem.
